When Jesus calls you to follow Him, you become not only a follower but a servant – a soldier for Christ! I remember singing a song many years ago that kids used to sing. “I may never fight in the infantry, ride in the cavalry, shoot the artillery, I may never fly o’er the enemy, but I’m in the Lord’s army (yes, sir!).” That song may sound a little old today and may be just a bit juvenile, but it echoes a truth we must remember. We ARE in the Lord’s army, and we are commissioned to serve the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!
Sometimes we forget what an awesome God we serve, and when we forget, we miss incredible opportunities to serve Him, not remembering that Jesus Christ can and will live through us every single day of the week. Wherever we go and whatever we do, we are to do it for His purpose and in His power! Today, you can take Jesus to work, to school, and to church! He will go with you (and in you) to the ball fields, on vacation, and to the gym. We serve Him “as we go!”
In this 21 Days to Easter devotional guide, I’ll lead you through a series of brief devotionals that are designed to prepare your heart and your life for serving Christ this Easter. I’ll talk about His purpose for your life in Week One. Why did Jesus come, and what does He want with me today? In Week Two, you’ll be challenged to pray for the people God has already placed in your life, and prepare to invite them to hear the good news that changed your life. I’ll also provide ideas for how to actually reach out to them. In Week Three, I’ll lead you to understand and experience the events of the Easter week that remind us – and allow us to experience all over again – the incredible, powerful love of God for each one of us!
My prayer is that you’ll experience God in a dynamic way as you have never experienced Him before. After each devotional moment, a series of questions are provided for you to ask, and answer - key questions about what you’ve read and about what God has said to you. “What is the Holy Spirit saying to me? What am I being asked to do? How do I need to begin obeying Him today?” People who ask and answer those questions are soldiers in God’s army of high rank and importance.
Do you want to experience God and see Him use you as never before? Then join me for the next 21 days – and watch God work! My prayer is this prayer that God Himself encourages us to pray:
“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things,
which you do not know.”
Jeremiah 33:3
