Solomon writes a lot about the "strange woman." Maybe that's because he wants his son to steer clear! Indeed. The strange woman is an immoral woman. He paints a pretty clear picture of what to look for - or I should say look OUT for.
Proverbs 2:16-19 "To deliver you from the strange
woman, from the adultress who flatters with her words; That leaves the
companion of her youth, and forgets the covenant of her God;
Solomon mentions several
characteristics of her:
1.
She is identified as an adultress. One
who takes fornication lightly before the Lord and men.
2.
The strange woman flatters with her words. She knows how to entice men by talking seductively, making false
statements.
3.
She is a covenant breaker. She
disregards what vows are made to God and man - covenants like marriage and purity.
Her circumstances are her first priority.
4.
Death surrounds her. She produces death
as fruit in her life, and those who are involved with her experience death
spiritually and physically.
5. Corruption follows the days of those who
participate with her in her immoralities. None reach the paths of life!
Consider what the Word says in the following passages:
Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin: and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death. James 1:15
Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sinc against his own body. 1 Corinthians 6:18
Let's not forget that the strange woman comes in various forms in life. It is not always an adultress who is a
woman. Those who lead people into sin
come in all shapes and sizes, leading in various directions. Not just in physical immorality, either, but
in any direction that involved distraction from God! Watch out - listen to the warnings
concerning "strange women".
